MINUTES:

 

1.Membership Categories and Eligibility:

The committee established the following categories and tiers for society membership:
 

Full Membership:

 
Regular Membership: Open to professionals holding MBBS/BDS and a postgraduate degree in the subject of Biochemistry (M.Phil/Ph.D/FCPS Biochemistry) with at least 5 years of post-graduate experience. Standard membership dues for SOMCB are set at Rs. 5,000 per year.
 
Lifetime Membership: Available for Rs 50,000 to individuals who fulfill the criteria for Regular Membership with at least 10 years of post-graduate experience.
 

Associate Membership:

 
Designed for PG Trainees (M.Phil/FCPS Biochemistry) and Biochemistry demonstrators. Membership dues are currently set at Rs. 3,000 per year.

Student Membership:

 
Designed for undergraduate medical students. Membership dues are currently set at Rs. 2,000 per year.
 

Honorary Membership:

 
Membership dues are set at 50% of the standard rate; however, these members will not have voting rights.
 

2. Financial Policies

• Annual Dues: The standard membership dues for SOMCB are set at Rs 5,000 per year for Full Membership from 1st January to 31st December of the current calendar year.
• Registration: There will be no separate registration fee beyond the membership dues.
• Fee Review: All membership dues are subject to revision after a period of 2 years.
• Voting Rights: Only active full members with no gaps in their membership dues will be eligible to vote.
 

3. Administrative and Faculty Responsibilities

• Faculty Enrollment: Each Head of Department (HoD) is responsible for ensuring their respective faculty members are registered as active society members.
• Provincial Councils: Each province is directed to establish its own executive council and conduct local meetings.
• Meeting Frequency: The Executive Committee will convene quarterly.
 

4. Conferences

• Biennial Conference: The society will hold a conference every 2 years. The province or city hosting the event will bear the primary financial responsibility.
• Core Committee: Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shakil presented the proposed structure for the core committee.
 

5. Society website:

Dr. Hamza Touqeer, PGR Biochemistry, under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shakil, has designed the society website. A formal presentation of the website was delivered during the meeting.
